FAQ

What precious metals do you use?

I use solid 22k, 18k, 14k yellow gold, fine silver, 925 sterling silver, 935 Argentium silver and brass. All pieces are handcrafted with recycled metal.

What percentage of pure metal do your pieces contain?

22k gold contains 91.7% pure gold

18k gold contains 75% pure gold

14ct gold contains 58.3% pure gold

Fine silver contains 99.9% pure silver

Sterling silver contains 92.5% pure silver

Argentium silver contains 93.5% pure silver

Are your pieces plated or solid gold?

I currently don’t offer plated or filled jewelry. All pieces are crafted with solid gold, silver or brass.

What’s gold filled and is it the same as solid gold?

Gold filled is not the same as ‘real gold’ or ‘solid gold’. It is a fraction of the cost of solid gold and is made by bonding a layer of gold to a base metal (usually brass) to give it the appearance of gold. Over time, the gold layer of gold filled jewelry wears away, exposing the base metal underneath. We do not use gold filled material.

How do I take care of my silver jewelry?

Wearing silver will keep it looking nice and once put away, it tarnishes naturally and develops character. If you’d like to keep your piece shiny it should be far away from sunlight, moisture, and heat. When you’re not wearing it, consider drying each piece, placing into its own plastic bag and removing air.

Can I wear pieces with gemstones everyday?

All of my pieces can definitely be worn everyday if treated with care. To avoid unnecessary wear and damage all jewelry pieces should be taken off before bed, when applying perfume or creams (e.g. sunscreen), doing household chores / sport / exercise and tasks that involve harsh chemicals. These activities can be hard on precious metals and gemstones.

How to take care of pieces with Opals?

Some of my pieces are made with opals with unique play-of-color. Solid opals should be cleaned gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid bleach, chemicals and cleaners. Doublets and triplets may be wiped with a soft damp cloth as well and should never be soaked. Never clean your opal in an ultrasonic cleaner and avoid impact with hard materials.

How to take care of pieces with pearls?

To wear: put on your pearls last after applying cosmetics, remove your pearl jewelry first before you remove your makeup. Keep your natural pearls away from cleaning products and remove them before doing any housework or exercising (especially swimming). Protect them from contact with hard objects.

To clean: Wipe them gently using only soft, clean and dampened cloth with no soap or brushing. Don’t soak your pearls.

To store: a satin or silk pouch is the best for storing pearl jewelry so they can breathe. Take them out to wear regularly.
